John became a helicopter pilot in 1981 after finishing his airplane ratings the prior year. At age 19, John earned his Commercial and Certified Flight Instructor rating for helicopters. He flew for a number of years for an Oil & Gas Company in the Houston area in the early 1980s. John returned to Austin in 1991 to finish his MBA at the University of Texas where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors in 1993. He re-kindled his aviation activities after graduate school and has increased his involvement and investment in the Central Texas helicopter market. Although John spends many hours each year flying airplanes for personal and business transportation, his real love is flying helicopters. He enjoys flying charters, tours and is especially fond of introducing newcomers to the helicopter marketplace, whether they are learning to fly or flying for the first time.
